I’m having a huge problem with trackbacks from splogs these days. The sites are actually linking to mine, so the trackback is valid and it gets through SpamKarma, but it’s just worthless. Is there a way to send trackbacks through moderation automatically, so that each trackback that appears on my site is manually confirmed? The volume of spam trackbacks is far eclipsing the volume of valid ones.

Cyde, I believe you could edit the code in the plugin itself, specifically where it raises or lowers karma depending upon circumstance. For example, if it’s a valid trackback this plugin raises karma some. It seems you could decrease that default value, or tell it to hit karma instead. This wouldn’t necessarily put the trackbacks directly in moderation unless the raise or hit karma values were carefully adjusted to place a valid one in purgatory.
Anubis judges the final values. It could probably be rewritten to have a separate paradise border for trackbacks and pingbacks.

Same problem as Cyde’s above. I even installed a plugin called Simple Trackback Validation which can be set to push all trackbacks to moderation. But with SK2 enabled, TBs get passed through still, even though the STBV plugin appends each of those TBs with its subject line. The two don’t really work together like I’d hoped.
I also tried disabling the trackback/pingback option in WP’s admin options. But this too got “overwritten” by SK2.
I think a great future feature in each of SK2’s plugins would be the option to move to moderation regardless of karma score.
