== Spam Karma 2 ==

”’Spam Karma 2 (SK2)”’ is an anti-spam plugin for the WordPress blogging platform. It is meant to stop all forms of automated Blog spam effortlessly, while remaining as unobtrusive as possible to regular commenters. Spam Karma 2 is the proud successor to Spam Karma, with whom it shares most of the development ideas, but absolutely none of the code.

== Requirements==

Spam Karma 2 requires WordPress v 1.5.1+ and mySQL 4.0+.

If you have an older version of either of those: ”’upgrade”’ before installing SK2.

Spam Karma 2 can be downloaded [http://unknowngenius.com/blog/wordpress/spam-karma/ here].

    This program really SUCKS….all the spam off my site. I’m amazed that it is still being supported and going strong as I hear the evil genius and self appointed Dr., Dave is running out of Bombay Sapphire, fine Chocolate and Absolut Vodka! Help prevent the drought and save a child’s life today by keeping Dave off the streets and securely sequestered in a bar or at least at home. Give till it hurts ….and ….hurt yourself,… more often ….for Dave’s sake at

    Dr. Dave should run for Emporor or at least President. All hail Dave!

    DISCLAIMER: I Don’t know Dr. Dave, never met the man and don’t plan on it. Yes I do use his winderful creation Spam Karma 2 which should be hailed as the next best thing since sliced Tofu. It’s great , it’s winderfull and everyone should support any habit this individual may have. And yes winderful is a real word as i just used it on a Scrable board last night so it must exist - just like God.

    As the official spokesperson for the Party of Jesus, I want to thank Dr Dave for his fantastic and highly successful efforts to fight comment spam, a known terr’ist activity. Thanks to Dr Dave, the official Party of Jesus blog is completely free of any terr’ist comment spam or nukular yellow cakes. It’s like having our Nigerian yellow cake and eating it too. Let’s all chip in some of our Party of Jesus war profits to help Dr Dave combat terr’ists!

    The absolute #1 plugin to be installed once you complete your WP setup, is SK2, no doubt whatsoever.

    Is this plugin designed to REPLACE or to SUPPLEMENT the antispam plugin included by the default WP install?

    I think that k3davis means Akismet, which is included with WP 2.0 and later, and described here:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Akismet

    I’d like to know as well. Do the two play well together? Both seem to have big fans (so I assume they work pretty well). Even if they do work well together, has anyone come across any concrete advantage to running them both?

    In my experience Akismet is nowhere near as good as Spam Karma 2, the worst part is that Akismet has a higher false positive rate (at least at first) which is really annoying. I don’t recommend running them together (and I run a site that provides free blog hosting using Word Press), if you really want to use both I’d suggest you get the Akismet plugin for Spam Karma 2 which you can find here:

    Be careful though, at least a few people have found that using the Akismet plugin for Spam Karma 2 made SK2 LESS effective… o_O Here’s one entry I found talking about it:

    I use spam karma with wordpress, would it be possible to still receive an email when a comment has been approved? I normally got a notification via email, but that seems tho have been disabled now? I can’t find a setting to enable that again.

    Hi! I’ve been using Akismet for a rather long period of time. Besides, I use a spam filter to cut messages at the moment of publishing. But I’m not sure it is the best solution, i’ll try this plugin.
