Plugin Submission FAQ

This part of the FAQ is specifically intented for plugin developers who want to add their plugin into WP-Plugins.net database, little point reading it if you are only a regular WP user.

How do I add my plugin to the Plugin Database?

Nothing’s easier, browse to: http://wp-plugins.net/dev.php, create an account, and add your plugins. Make sure to read the instructions below first!

How should I fill in the fields?

Most fields are pretty self-explanatory. A few notes and comments:

I just released a new version of my plugin

Simply update the version number… It will appear in the RSS feed, users will be notified of the new version.
You can then create a separate Update Log entry with version numbers matching your new version: it will be displayed along with your plugin general description in the RSS feed.

Can I add commercial plugins to WP-plugins.net?

While shareware and freeware plugins are most welcome to wp-plugins.net, commercial software is merely tolerated, in the ‘commercial’ section only. I have no personal grudge against commercial licensing, I simply prefer to support community-based development as a primary solution to small WP needs and want users to be able to freely browse the list without having to worry about potential licensing cost.

Regardless of your licensing scheme, any submission to the DB that looks even remotely like SPAM (unwarranted excessive number of URLs in description fields, irrelevant links) will be deleted without warning and the author’s IP banned.

Abusive or incorrect submissions (redundant plugins with more links than info, fields improperly filled) will generally get a first warning before deletion.

I want to help

Please, right this way…

Any sort of help (layout, css, php, documentation, design…) is always appreciated.
Top on the list of current needs are a couple part-time maintainers who wouldn’t mind keeping an eye on the list and ensures it remains tidy and free of parasites (spam-like “commercial” plugins etc).
Just drop us a note and we’ll get you started.

I logged on using my user account to /dev.php but when I tried to add a new plugin, I got a message saying I was not allowed to update this page, or something like it (sorry, can’t remember the error message, it was a couple hours ago).

Help =) btw, Is this thing being phased out in favor of the extend section in wordpress.org?

How does wp-plugins.net relate to wp-plugins.org? I assume that being listed there doesn’t get a plugin listed here? Is there any reason to use both?

    Just wondering… :-)
