Contribute
Sooo…
Your parents left you with this huge trust fund, ensuring you never have to work a day in your life, you have already traveled the globe a hundred times in your private jet, the mere thought of leaving your hi-tech leisure room/mum’s basement ever again is making you weary…
“What am I to fill this endless spare time with”, you wonder?
Easy !
You could contribute some of that plentiful time to a cutting-edge Wordpress community project such as WP-plugins.net or Spam Karma 2…
OK, even if you were long kicked out of your parents’ house, currently living off cat food and with barely a second to spare in between two graveyard shifts at Taco Bell, we still want you and your mad editing/translating/moderating/coding skills !
Here is what we need:
WP-plugins.net
Database moderators
The plugin database is huge (close to 2,500 plugins), keeping it organized, ensuring people use it correctly (keeping spamers away) is a lot of work for one person. I would really love it if two or three people could join me in looking over it, create new categories and move plugins as necessary, warn and possibly delete non-legit submissions and otherwise help keep the DB clean and tidy.
Coders
There are dozens of cool features waiting to happen on WPP.net… Unfortunately, as it is, I barely have the time to maintain it and fix essential bugs. If you have any Javascript of PHP skills and would like to practice them on a piece of code that will be useful to thousands: now is your chance. Around the top of the To-Do list for the site, are: better front page code, rating system, download stats, customizable RSS feeds, public API (to notify of updates etc.), improved search capabilities, tagging and whatever you’d feel like bringing to the mix.
SK2
Translators
SK2’s collection of localization (l10n) files is growing staggeringly fast !
If you speak a language other than English, you can help bring SK2 to it, by contributing to the translation effort. Some l10n files are nearly complete (only need small updates to keep up with newer SK2 releases), others are only partial translations or haven’t been started yet.
If you would like to officially translate SK2 into your language, create a guest account here and contact me with details on which language you would like to contribute to: I will then bump your account up to ‘contributor’, which will allow you to edit the localization page for your language (the .mo files are automatically compiled by a script). You don’t need any particular technical skills to contribute… I have posted a more detailed How-To on the l10n process here.
Doc Writers / Editors / Moderators
Helping with doc writing (for SK2 and possibly WPP.net), cleaning up existing stuff, adding in new content, possibly moderate a bulletin board if we decide to add one.
SK2 Module Developer
SK2 has a very easy-to-use module API that lets you develop extra functionalities in a dozen lines. If you have any ideas for improvements in the way SK2 filters or treat comments, contact me and I can give you extensive guidances on how to use the API to develop it. Developing a module for SK2 is infinitely easier than developing a new anti-spam plugin from scratch and might benefit a much greater number of people than if you released it as a standalone solution.
If you do not have any ideas to implement, but would still like to play with the API and bring code to the anti-spam community, there are a couple module ideas that you can take part in: contact me for details.
What’s in it for you?
You mean beside love, glory and happiness? The deep feeling of satisfaction brought by helping open-source community projects.
Of course, you will get full credit for your work. We will set up a “Contributors” page on this site for every members to share some details about them and some linking love back to their own blog/site.
OK, Where do I Sign?
If you are interested in taking part in one or many of the above projects, simply register on this site, then contact me with details on what you would like to do: I will upgrade your account with the proper permissions.

I’ve been developing a WP plugin that checks for plugin versions. In the process I’ve noticed that the wp-plugins.net site could use a little work. I’d be glad to help in my spare time if you still have room for volunteers.
In particular, I’d like to put something together that creates a single file of all plugins with their version #s - but I like trouble-shooting too.
Check out my “scripting” section for some examples of my code before you decide to let me help
Thanks

I have a suggestion for making this site more user friendly (don’t get me wrong, i love it already!)
why the need for the collapsing sections?
if i’ve search for something, i want to see a list of all matching plugins, with a brief description for each one, instead of having to click each category, and then again within each category, to actually see the interesting stuff.

I want to help by being a coder, implementing the new features.

Hello. I have spend fifteen years as an information architect, human factors & usability expert (several certifications), and ui developer. I like the idea of the plugins db but it’s a pain-in-the-*ss. Lets talk about my reorganizing and redesigning it. Regards.

I like the idea of this site. But I don’t like its organization. I also don’t know why the last three comments have got mixed up.
I would suggest putting the plugin information into a csv file so that it can be downloaded, imported and sorted in a spreadsheet. Or maybe having a sortable table presentation on the site itself.
In fact 80% of the stuff on the web should be in a form of a sortable table where we can choose which columns should be displayed and how these should be sorted. It is not so hard to implement either. But then a lot of webmasters are too vain for their own good.

Registration is currently not allowed.
I applaud the WP-Plugins.net site — your hard work thus far has paid off in the shape of a crisp, concise compendium-site for WP adherents everywhere. I’d be happy to discuss with you in greater detail how I might be able to lend a hand where help is needed. …But I insist that you let me register first. : Þ
Oh and lastly, what led me to this page was that I was looking for a way to tell you that the homepage link and download link you have on file for the Edit N Place plugin are both not working.
Interested persons should navigate here instead:

Thanks for the great site, and for featuring my WP plugins!
I agree with some of the other commenters, that the jquery expanding / collapsing format is a bit annoying to use especially when searching for a particular plugin. Also, the rss link on the homepage doesn’t seem to be working anymore.
I would be glad to help you out with some coding, perhaps I could get the feed working for you…
